The Grass is Greener seeks to provide the highest quality lawn and landscape services available while seeking to impact the lives of at risk and recovering individuals. The Grass is Greener Lawn Care began in 1998 as a part of Hope for Chattanooga, a 501(c) organization involved in community development in Chattanooga’s Glenwood community. GIG was a job development endeavor, employing men from the Glenwood area. GIG provided gainful employment, as well as Christian mentors for unemployed and underemployed men from the community to develop their job skills and establish a stable work history, enabling them to move back into the mainstream employment arena. Sam Manning became the director of Grass is Greener in May 2000 with 11+ years experience in the lawn and landscape industry.Over half of that time was spent in management for a national landscape company. In February 2003, due to the high overhead for each program participant, Hope for Chattanooga made the decision to move in a different direction with their jobs training program. Sam purchased The Grass is Greener at that time and continues to work with people in the urban community that are considered at risk or in recovery. He has held a Pesticide License with the State of Tennessee since 1997, and has lived in Chattanooga since graduation from college in 1985. | ![]() ![]() |
